First Impressions!

Yesterday was our first full day in Malawi.  We received an overwhelmingly warm welcome by our staff and dear friends at Esther's House while Thomas and Megan immediately made friends and settled into Malawian play.  To watch them, one would think that they had never lived anyplace else...in fact by the end of the day, despite his reddish blond head and relatively fair complexion, I had difficulty picking Thomas out of the group across the three acre campus!  He was just simply playing with his friends and effectively blending right in!

God has done a tremendous work in getting us here and allowing us to begin settling in!  We are nearly ready to live in our new home.  Every inch of our home was scoured by our mission team from Cross Church and we have only a few minor details to tend to today like hanging our mosquito nets and replacing a toilet seat...already! Nearly everything is arranged and ready to use.  All of the essential tools are even packed away with some logic.  When asked to look at the ministry truck before driving out to Esther's House to join the team today I discovered that 1st gear was nowhere to be found.  After the team departed I started going over the truck like it's an airplane to find that a nut is missing from the linkage.  It's a minor detail, but with all of my tools 12 miles away it will just take a little time to make it drivable then I can tighten everything else up when I join my family and the rest of the team later today!

One of my favorite quotes cited on my Facebook profile comes from the film, Last Flight Out:  "There's no better place to be than in the center of God's will..."  Though there are some adjustments to be made with any move, I must exclaim, "It's good to be home!"
